The firm was founded in 1973 by R. Walton McNairy and Locke T. Clifford, classmates at the UNC School of Law, Class of 1967. Locke Clifford is certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a specialist in Federal and State Criminal Law. He represents individuals and corporate clients in matters ranging from sex offenses, financial crimes, computer crimes, arson, federal grand jury and regulatory agency investigations, drug conspiracies, federal tax and bankruptcy fraud, record expunctions, probation and parole violations, and death penalty homicides to DWIs and traffic tickets. Andrew Clifford joined his father in the Clifford Division of the firm in 2006 and practices in State Superior and District Court handling criminal felonies and misdemeanors, expunctions, juvenile cases, DWIs, traffic cases and defense of domestic violence protective orders. Both father and son are former Assistant District Attorneys in Guilford County, are Eagle Scouts and are graduates of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
